update

Night-time is a time for thinking for me lately. Lots of deep crazy thoughts going on, but to be honest I'm exhausted. Totally spent. So instead, just a little update and the important thoughts will come back later to be recorded.

Dren's surgery yesterday went really well. So well, in fact, that they discharged him at about 6pm the same day. Sent us home with Tylenol 3s and we got him home. It was really nice to have him home, and he was glad to be home. About 10 or 11pm, the pain started to get crazy uncomfortable. The night was really rough - he probably only slept about 3 hours. I called the hospital in the morning, and the surgeon wanted him back. We tried to get him outside so I could drive him, but the pain was so bad that we needed to call another ambulance.

We waited around in ER again for about 3 hours. The surgeons came to see him and decided to admit him again. He finally received some morphine around 2 hours after we got there.

I left him after I was satisfied that the pain was at least slightly more comfortable. I am so behind with work right now...but how thankful am I that I have been able to do all of this with him, all the while having the opportunity to go home and get caught up and not have to lose money? Very thankful.

I took him some food later in the day (simply could not subject the boy to hospital food) and visited for about 45 minutes. Then drove home to get back to it.

Thank God for incredible friends who are doing things like caring for my child and feeding us.
Thank God for all the kind and comforting comments I read on my last post.
Thank God Dren and I love eachother so much so that I want to do things for him and he's concerned about asking too much.
Thank God for family...mum's arriving tomorrow and I'm so glad.
Thank God for the small things and day by day.

So, so, so glad you updated. I've been thinking about you guys and praying for you these past couple of days.
And SO glad to hear your mom is coming to help - that is good news. Don't times like these sometimes just make you want your mom?
And so glad to hear that you are able to help Dren and spend time with him and take food to him.
As my aunt ALWAYS tells me (and sometimes I think it's annoying at the time and I don't want to hear it), this too shall pass.
