i'm ready. uplift me.

If you have a favourite inspirational or motivational quote, please share. If you have a story of some trying time you've gone through, please share. I'm ready to be uplifted out of this fog...this state of overwhelming fog I've felt. I miss scrapbooking. I really REALLY do. It's my therapy. I need it. I'm sad. I'm spent. But I'm SO done talking about it and thinking about it. So please, PLEASE, if you have a happy, uplifting thought, phrase, story to share with me...please share it. I will be forever grateful. xog

Hi Genevieve,

My favorite quotation is "I dwell in possibility." —Emily Dickinson

I think it's a beautiful, encouraging sentiment, and I return to it again and again, no matter what's going on in my life.

I hope it brings you peace and encouragement, as it's done (and does) for me.

All the best,

Katie

Hi Gen,

I'm not much of a quote person. The only thing I can think of is "Hang in there" (and then you need to picture a kitten hanging from a tree branch). But know that I'm thinking of you.

Take care

My go to source for encouragement tends to always be the same: storypeople.com. Here is one that grabbed me today:

Proper Steps
I only do this until I get dizzy & then I lay down on my back & watch the clouds, she said. It sounds simple but you won't believe how many people forget the second part.

agghh! i'm drawing a blank,
i always try to remind myself that it could be so much worse. but that's not what you need so let's see.....how about some beatles, the beatles always cheer me up.

If God brings you to it, He'll bring you through it.

I know it's hard, but you just have to trust in God. Sometimes He doesn't give us what we want. But He'll give you what you need. Once you turn over your concerns, you're free to enjoy what you have.

That took me a long time to get. But it really helps me now in times of crisis.

My mom has said two things to me that have made a lot of sense:
"It's just a jog in the road"

and "if you can't deal with something hour by hour take it minute by minute."

So lately since most things have sucked ass these are two quotes I have kept in mind. Also listen to Dave Matthews Band and he helps too.

You aren't given more than you can handle. Sure you'll feel stretched, but you'll come out the other side a better person than you were when you went in. Stronger. You all will. Believe it!

“When asked if he was a happy man, the Dali Lama replied that emotions will rise and fall like waves of the ocean, but underneath at its center the ocean is always calm.”
~ Dali Lama

Hugs sweetie... I'm thinking about ALL of you!

just know that someone always has it worse than you do. so many people out there are feeling the same way you do, but it will eventually pass.

i'm also struggling right now. I feel like shit everyday. My mother, who i am so attached to, is dying of cancer...not doing well at all. I don't know what to do but and i'm always crying. I remind myself that I just have to hand things over to God and let him take care of things...and He will.

Just never lose hope and remember: you'll never enjoy sweetness unless you taste the bitterness. (or however that goes). Hang in there girl...that's just the way life goes sometimes. hold on to your faith, pray, and never lose hope...things will get better.

If you'd like to talk, you can email me, just go to my blog.

I love it when I come home from a frightful day of tension to find that my kids understand, and are content just to chill with me in bed, watching our favorite shows on TV and not think about anything else. Tonight will be a perfect example of that...I spent 12 emotionally taxing hours creating art for my project and came home totally spent. Now we'll root for the Survivors, laugh at The Office, then come back for some Ugly Betty (it'll be a late night!) I am all for escapism!
Bad things can go away for hours if you don't think about them.
love.

but i remember this one - it's on a magnet on my fridge:

"worrying does not empty tomorrow of it's troubles, it empties today of it's strength" (unknown)

xo sweetie.
thinking of you.

oh...i also really like this quote:

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls bloom." (proust)

Hello, it's Ruth, your magnesium girl. No great quote.

Only when you feel like it, take a peek at your scrapbooking supplies, even if it is just a peek (no work) as it can get the mind inspired, or if you can't do that, shut the door of your work space and be done for a while.

Read a few people's blogs.
Allow indulgence.
Write yourself some postcards that are just for you and mail them to yourself if you find it hard to journal or diary. You might or might not use them later for therapy or for scrapping, but it will be cathartic eitherway.

Take care of yourself and take the magnesium and do anything to make yourself feel better and don't feel any guilt.

Realise all we go through low times, and it is an ebb and flow. But know that when it is bad, it okay to call a friend in the middle of the night, it is okay to cry whenever. There is a support system out there. It is okay to feel; feeling means you are a person capable of loving, caring and of being in touch with your emotions.

See this as a time to get in touch with yourself... take a break from creativity... write a lot or nothing... whatever it is, do for YOU as well as your family.

And know that there are complete strangers out here that for some reason... because you are you, strike a chord... you matter to us in some kind of way... you are not alone, and know it will ALL BE OK.
Ruth

Hi Gen,

Hellen Keller said "I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble" I think this is who you are.

FDR said "When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on" I think this is what you need to do.

But my favorite quote is much more simple... B.C. Forbes said "Diamonds are only lumps of coal that stuck to their jobs"

You are a true Gem. You can make it through!

Hugs,
Donna Salazar

Hey Gen... I am going through something difficult right now as well and have been struggling to stay positive and to to beleive that things happen for a reason and will be okay. Ive posted a couple of the quotes that have helped me the last couple days on my blog, I'll share them with you... One of them is a long one though I warn you.

Keep your chin up!

Michelle

"Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understanding; and that there is always tomorrow." - Dorothy Thompson

and

Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!
Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived makes
Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!

Hi Genevieve...read your blog and felt your pain, stress, and well just EVERYTHING...wanted to share a little something funny to lift your spirits...in preparing for Halloween, I decided to make my son a pancake. I was cutting out the circles and asked my husband to buy brown spray paint. He said, "No, don't make me look delicious because then people will want to eat me!" Ah, kids...they just have a way of putting a smile on your face. Have a great day!

i have no idea why this lifts me up... but it does... it's brian andreas... "There are things you do because they feel right & they may make no sense & they may make no money & it may be the real reason we are here: to love each other & to eat each other's cooking & say it was good."

and i love you.
and am always, always here.

Here are some of my favourites. I noticed there weren't many quotes left so far, so I've included several :) ...

I sometimes wake in the early morning & listen to the soft breathing of my children & I think to myself, this is one thing I will never regret & I carry that quiet with me all day long.
~ - brian andreas, storypeople

Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ::

One’s philosophy is not best expressed
in words, it is expressed in the choices one makes … in the long run, we shape
our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.
~ Eleanor Roosevelt

I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.
~ Emma Goldman

Start the day with a smile
and get it over with.
~ W.C. Fields

Hope you're feeling better soon (())
